Terex Trucks first in Volvo Group to achieve ISO 45001 certification

Terex Trucks, Motherwell are celebrating having achieved the ISO 45001 certification through the LR (Lloyds Register). This achievement was obtained in December of 2018 and it is the first time a site within the Volvo Group has achieved the certificate. The ISO45001:2018 safety management certification is an ISO standard with ISO14001:2015 and ISO 9001:2015: two certificates we are proud to have already held.

Existing safety systems, procedures and standards were carefully reviewed and updated to align with the requirements in order to achieve this standard. A lot of the framework for the certification was already in place as our team currently operate an Integrated Management System (IMS). The structured approach has allowed for us to be consistent in our outlook to health and safety management. In addition, this documentation demonstrates Terex Trucks, Motherwell’s commitment to continual improvement.

The certification will also add an element to truck sales as often tender documents are needed to provide evidence of certification to ISO standards. Our customers and dealers can trust that our trucks are built in a safe environment, with safety being considered at all staged of our business; including design.

The audit inspected different areas of the business and team members from varied departments of the site were questioned by the auditor. Terex Trucks are proud to have worked as a team in order to achieve this international standard.

The ISO 45001:2018, ISO14001:2015 and ISO 9001:2015 certifications are recognised and respected globally.

Karen Anne Duffy, Senior HSE Advisor at Terex Trucks, stated:

“It’s a great achievement and a lot of work went into preparing for the certification audits. It’s also great to be the first site in the Volvo Group to achieve this.”

As the certification only lasts for three years, our team hope to continue developing on health and safety standards to recertify in 2023. We will also be working together to ensure our site continues to uphold these standards during our annual audits.
