New Apprentice Jamie Clarkson

In order to get to know our new apprentices, we caught up with each of them to ask some questions.

Next is Jamie Clarkson, an engineering design and manufacturing apprentice, from Dalziel Park in Motherwell. Jamie previously was a waiter in the Dalziel Park Hotel.  He is a keen sportsman and is a member of a junior golf team.

Jamie will complete a BEng (Hons) degree in Engineering: Design and Manufacturing as part of the company’s first year of partnership with the University of Strathclyde.

How did you learn about the Terex Trucks apprenticeship programme?

I did a work placement at the factory through my school and heard about the apprenticeship scheme from there.

Why did you apply to the Terex Trucks apprenticeship scheme?

I felt that it was a great opportunity to be able to both learn and develop skills practically whilst in the work place as well as work my way towards a degree which I have always wanted to achieve.

What do you hope to achieve throughout the programme?

To build good experience in the work place and obtain the degree I will be working towards.

How did it feel to be successful in securing a place on the programme?

I felt relieved and delighted to have secured something great to work on over the next four years.

What aspects of the programme are you most looking forward to?

I am looking forward to being able to develop skills in the work place which I can use later in my career and to working alongside an experienced team where I can hopefully pick up a lot of tips.

What career path do you hope to follow when you have completed the apprenticeship?

I’d like to stay within the engineering industry and work my way up the ladder in the field.

Did you know anything about the company before you started?

I knew the company had a great reputation and has been very successful over the years.
