TEREX TRUCKS RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS HEALTH AND SAFETY AWARD

Motherwell-based truck manufacturer awarded Silver by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA)

Considered Most Prestigious Health & Safety Awards Scheme

31 July 2017 – Motherwell-based manufacturer of articulated and rigid haulers, Terex Trucks, has been awarded ‘Silver’ at the annual Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Health and Safety Awards for its commitment to maintaining an excellent health and safety record.

The RoSPA Health and Safety Awards, known as the most prestigious in the field of occupational health and safety, is an opportunity for businesses and organisations to receive recognition for practising world-class health and safety measures. Judges consider entrants’ overarching occupational health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.

Commenting on the win, Terex Trucks’ senior HSE advisor, Karen Anne Horsburgh, said: “We take health and safety very seriously at Terex Trucks and are thrilled to be recognised by RoSPA in our first year entering the awards.  We’ve had a brilliant year in terms of health and safety initiatives and I’m sure the fact we had no lost time incidents played a big part in achieving the Silver award.

“We scored highly for how we communicate our health and safety initiatives with staff and for creating groups such as our Better Place to Work Committee. Our management team are very supportive and understand how vital health and safety is for us, as a heavy manufacturing business. This commitment ensures our health and safety procedures are adhered to across the entire business – and that’s why our working environment remains a safe place to be.”

Managing Director and General Manager of Terex Trucks, Paul Douglas, added:

“We are delighted to receive recognition for our health and safety measures. At Terex Trucks we strive to deliver top quality across all areas of the business so it’s fantastic that our procedures meet the same high standard as our trucks. Above all, the most important thing to us is the safety of our staff and making sure they go home safe to their families every day.”

Terex Trucks will be presented with the award, which was achieved during a special year for RoSPA as it celebrates its centenary, at a ceremony in the Glasgow Hilton hotel on Thursday, September 14, 2017.

Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of awards and events, said:

“The RoSPA Awards is the most prestigious in the world of occupational health and safety, as winning one demonstrates an organisation’s commitment to maintaining an excellent health and safety record. Achieving the standard required is no mean feat.”
